Simple Dinner Ideas
Make dinner simple! Here are a few recipes that will become family favorites!
Hamburger Potato Soup

1 lb. ground beef

1 large onion, chopped
-
2 cloves garlic, minced

4 large potatoes, peeled and diced

3 large carrots, sliced

2 celery stalks, sliced

4 cups chicken or beef broth
-
1 tsp dried thyme
-
1 tsp dried parsley
-
1 tsp paprika
-
Salt + pepper to taste

1 cup heavy cream
-
2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
-
2 tbsp cornstarch mixed with 2 tbsp water (optional, for thickening)

Fresh parsley, chopped (garnish)

Extra shredded cheddar cheese (garnish)

Brown beef in a large skillet over medium heat (until no longer pink); drain excess fat. Add the onion and garlic and sauté for 5 minutes, until onion becomes translucent. Transfer beef mixture to crockpot and add broth + seasonings. Cook in crockpot on low for 6-8 hours or high for 3-4 hours, until tender and fully cooked. 20 minutes before serving stir in heavy cream, milk and shredded cheese. For thicker consistency mix cornstarch with water and stir into soup. Cook for 15-25 minutes on low. Garnish and serve.

Glazed BBQ Steak

1/4 cup BBQ sauce

1 tsp finely grated fresh ginger

1 clove garlic, crushed

1 tbsp mustard

1 tbsp brown sugar

1 tbsp olive oil

Inside round steak

Make the glaze, mix the BBQ sauce, ginger, garlic, mustard, brown sugar and oil. Heat BBQ up to medium0high temp. Place steaks onto the hot plate. Cook for 8-10 minutes, turning once during cooking. Brush with glaze during during cooking. Once cooked, remove from heat and let rest for 5 minutes before slicing.

Pulled Beef

3 lb cross rib roast

1 tbsp paprika
-
1 tbsp salt
-
1 tbsp garlic powder
-
1 tbsp brown sugar
-
1/4 cup water
-
1 cup favorite BBQ sauce

Place roast in slow cooker, add ingredients. Cover & let sit for 7-8 hours on low or 3-4 hours on high. Discard liquid in slow cooker and add 1 cup BBQ sauce. ​
Serve in a bun with coleslaw. ​

Brisket

3.5 lb beef brisket
-
1 tsp salt
-
1 tsp cumin
-
1/2 tsp pepper
-
1/2 tsp onion powder
-
1/2 tsp garlic powder
-
1/2 tsp paprika

Combine all dry ingredients into a small bowl and set aside. Open brisket and drain most of the juices and place into slow cooker; fat side up with 1 cup water on the bottom of the slow cooker. Sprinkle seasonings on brisket and set slow cooker to low heat for 8 hours. Once cooked. cut brisket against the grain. Enjoy!

Beef Ribs

3-5 lbs. beef ribs​

Seasoning salt or salt + pepper

2 cups barbecue sauce
-
1 cup water

1. Slice into individual ribs. Sprinkle each with your favourite seasoning salt or salt +pepper
2. Layer ribs in slow cooker and add 1 1/2 cups BBQ sauce and 1 cup water. Cook on low for 7-8 hours or high for 3-4 hours.
3. Once ready, transfer to a foil-lined baking sheet. Brush generously with remaining 1/2 cup of BBQ sauce. Broil for 5-8 minutes, until sauce is caramelized and sticky.
